Dear Millburn Community,
I want to thank you for your overwhelming support of our C&MP Referendum. This is the culmination of years of planning toward a mindset shift to finance reinvestment in District schools for the future.
*Does not include provisional ballots…finally tally including provisional should be available by tomorrow.
This successful referendum vote reinforces the partnership between the school district and the community in support of the values that we share to provide for security, space and a productive environment in our buildings for our students and staff. Maintaining these assets is an investment in the future of our district and our community.
I especially want to thank our Board of Education, and all of the members, past and present, who have been part of this process. The C&MP subcommittee helped steer the communications, presentations and publication projects, consisting of the dream team of Caroline Updyke, Sonali Ganti, Emily Jaffe, Nancy Dries and Cheryl Schneider. Thanks to MHS Senior, Daniel Sirota for his expertise in helping us tell our story through video, with supporting cast members: Mike Palardy, John Connolly, Emily Jaffe and Paul McDevitt.
Special thanks go to Ms. Schneider and her staff in the business office. A referendum can’t even get off the ground without all of the work that goes on behind the scenes in her office to coordinate with architects, lawyers, bond counselors, financial experts, election officials and more.
I want to thank my administrative team whose input helped refine our project plans. Our building Principals and staff strongly supported this referendum, and graciously gave us time at their faculty meetings to present our Referendum Roadshow.
The PTOs were also instrumental in giving us opportunities to speak to parents at their meetings, answer their questions, and send them out into the community to share information about these capital and maintenance projects to be funded in this new financing model.
It takes a village…and I am so grateful to be a member of a community that takes such pride in supporting its schools, staff, and students, now and into the future.
