Thank you for visiting my page. I will use it to keep you appraised of various health concerns here at Washington and to share information pertinent to the health and wellbeing of your child. To contact me email Patricia O'Gorman

Incoming concerns:

All students are new to Washington so if your student has any health concerns please notify the school nurse as soon as possible. This is especially important for students with life-threatening allergies and chronic health concerns such as diabetes and asthma.

Medication and the necessary accompanying paperwork from the physician, must be submitted to the nurse's office at the beginning of every school year. It's always best not to wait until there is an immediate need.

This also applies if your child gets frequent headaches or has seasonal allergies. Over-the-counter medications can be stored in the nurse's office and administered by the school nurse as long as the physician has signed the appropriate paperwork.

Please see the links to the health forms you might need in the box on the right side of this page.

Fifth Grade Puberty Education

Mr. Hogan and Mrs O'Gorman will host this program in November. Mr. Hogan will be with the boys and Mrs. O'Gorman, the girls. Parents will be notified of the exact date once it is confirmed. These talks are informative, non-threatening, fun and respectful. This is NOT sex education, it is a discussion about changing bodies, health, growth and hygiene. For your convenience I am posting links to the video you student will view at the time of the discussion.

Immunizations

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends all students receive annual influenza vaccinations.

TDAP and Meningococcal are required immunizations under state law that must be given on or around the 11 year birthday. These immunizations are required in 6th grade but if your child receives them during 5th grade please send in an updated immunization record from your child's physician, to the nurse at Washington school.
